Job Description

This position is charged with managing the technical activities, human resources, schedules and costs for a segment(s) for the testing offering. This person will participate in establishing objectives, work plans, schedules and cost data for the maturing as well as growing testing projects. Will provide technical leadership to the testing competency and manage a team of 40 to 50 testing resources. Responsibilities: Define the overall testing competency offering and ensure those are commensurate with stakeholder needs. Own test strategy, design, process, planning & estimation, system & user acceptance testing requirements for the competency. Prepare & Review Master Test Plans for all projects in the work program. Define key metrics for the testing effort and track them at a competency level Act as the SME for all things related to testing and be the single point of contact to provide leadership and direction to the competency Provide thought leadership to the entire practice and ensure that we build a world class testing organization. Continuously assess Test practices and processes of the team to nurture a culture of continuous improvement Assist the project team to set priorities for the technical tasks and current customer needs Accept and manage all customer escalations. Pro-actively escalate issues which may impact delivery. Interface with the development and maintenance teams (e.g. management, PM, development lead, vendors) Participate in proposal response teams, specifically taking ownership of the testing areas. Ensure all team members receive trainings appropriate to their roles Responsible for coaching, mentoring, training and day to day interaction with a team of professionals (testers, automation experts, planners). Identify and ensure the appropriate headcount is maintained in the test practice by effectively hiring, managing and retaining team members. Candidate Specification: 13 yrs of total experience Has experience in leading and managing sizeable test teams for a period of at least 3-4 yrs Broad exposure to multiple testing areas such as Manual, Functional, Performance, Load, Automation, Usability and Security testing. Familiarity with testing tools such as Rational; Winrunner, LoadRunner, QTP and other open source offerings Multi-channel testing exposure including Web, Client-Server, OS, Batch, Mobile etc Must have experience in Test Planning and Test Strategies Candidate should be a BE, M Tech, MCA Desired/Preferred Skills: Strong People Management/Project Management skills Experience in various types of testing on Products/Applications and setting up Testing environments Testing certification such as ISTQB
