Job Description

Purpose

The Lead Software Tester Engineer is required to effectively and efficiently plan, execute, and deliver all Testing activities as planned for the Production Support Group. The lead would also coordinate and monitor all Test Analysts assigned to the team. The Lead Software Tester is responsible for coordinating and executing all Testing (whether automated or manual), conducting Defect Triage and coordinating Defect Management with the Lead Developer (in conjunction with Manager Testing and Manager Development) including the reporting thereof. The lead also plays a pivotal role in bridging communication between BA?s, Software Developers and Test Developers.

Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

? Supervise Software testers and assign tasks as directed by the Manager testing.

? Provide Daily Status Quo, in the daily team stand-up.

? Coordinate activities of Test Analysts within the Production Support Team.

? Verification and review of Business Specifications, Functional Specifications and Non-Functional Specifications as part of Test Planning and Test Scenario preparation

? Create draft Traceability matrix for review by Manager, Testing and Production Support Manager

? Execute all Testing as required e.g. Unit, Functional, Systems Integration, User Acceptance Testing and Regression Testing (whether automated or manual)

? Ensure timely notification of Issues/Risks and make recommendations for mitigation and resolution to support team

? Resolve and/or escalate testing issues where required

? Log and track all queries and clarification requests raised by the Test Team

? Assist Manager Testing in preparation of Test Closure and End Stage reports

? Train and mentor Test Team members as a required

? Participate in Support planning and development sessions as directed by PSM

? Evaluate the scope document to provide accurate estimates for the testing effort

? Mentor and coach Software Developers, Conduct performance review for all direct reports 4 times per year

? Ensure leave is lodge by direct reports prior to annual leave, or within 24 hours of return to office after sick leave

Including but not limited to:

? Effective supervision of Test Analysts

? Percentage of automated test cases used per request (% to be determined)

? Contribution to Test Plan and Strategy

? Time Management in relation to Test Plan

? Accuracy of Test Estimations

? Quality of Test Scenario planning (Accuracy and efficiency of testing cases)

? Defect Identification and categorisation

? Test Execution Efficiency

? Test Resource Utilisation plans as directed

? Documentation of new test cases for future use and documentation of test execution on WIKI

Peers Lead Software Developer, Lead Business Analyst, Lead Technical Architect, Lead Build Developer and other Peer Level Professional Staff

Subordinates Software Testers, Helpdesk Support Coordinator, and Production Support Team

Stakeholders Department Heads (Internal), Client Test Managers, Client Business Project Managers, Client Technical Project Managers, Production Support/Service Delivery Manager Senior Project Managers, Project Managers and Internal Project Resources

Qualifications

? Bachelor?s Degree/Higher Level Education (Industry Specific Ideal but not mandatory)

? ITIL V3.0 Foundation

? Software Testing Certifications and/or Quality Testing Certifications (ideal)

Experience

Total should be 8-10 yrs of experience

? At least 5 years combined experience in either Information Technology, Consulting, Insurance industry or Financial Services at a mid to senior management level

? At least 3 years combined experience as a Lead Software Tester covering full Software Testing Lifecycle

? Demonstrable experience in Test Design and Scenario Planning for UAT, SIT and Regression testing

? Excellent analytical and documentation skills

? Strong technical hands-on knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

o Programming Languages such as HTML, .NET, XML, Java J2EE

o Java tools such as Maven, Eclipse, Jenkins, Subversion

o Operating Systems such as Windows Desktop/Server, Unix/Linux

o RDBMS and SQL such as Oracle, SQL Server

o Testing Tools such as Test Rail, Quality Centre

o Project Planning and reporting (Such as MS Project, JIRA and Excel)

? Strong organizational skills combined with the ability to multi-task and excellent time-management skills

? Ability to manage stakeholders at all level

? Experience in Test automation via batch or script is ideal
