Job Description

Job Summary:

The role of the Tools Architect is to provide level 3/4 support for the Competency Center including the design of all Automation Tool applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement monitoring baseline standards and best practices
Test and evaluate new products and product releases prior to deployment into production
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for monitoring related issues in the change control process;
Participate in the coordination of projects for the appropriately timed infrastructure deployments and automation activities.
Document and Implement operating procedures that conform to corporate standards defined jointly with other delivery units
Coordinate, Investigate, analyze and resolve operational problems and complaints related to the monitoring infrastructure.
Manage and escalate risks and issues appropriately
Respond to ad-hoc requests for data to support escalations & service enhancement activities

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

10+ years of Tools management experience
Experience (L2/L3) in the design, installation, configuration and support of any one or more Enterprise Automation tools from BMC, IBM, HP, CA etc
Knowledge of Orchestration tools
CMDB and change processes
Excellent handson experience on Linux and OpenSource tools
Working knowledge of industry of data integration approaches and scripting, e.g. Web Services, XML, Perl Scripts
A good understanding of one or more technologies used on Automation development:
o SQL coding
o Scripting (Shell, Perl etc)
o Application development
Additionally a good knowledge of the technologies would be beneficial:
o Server - Intel (HP, IBM, Dell hardware), Unix (HPUX, Solaris, AIX)
o Network Cisco, Checkpoint
o Storage - NetApp, EMC, HP
o OS & Application - Microsoft (Windows Server 2000/2003, SQL Server, Exchange, AD, BizTalk, etc.), Oracle, ERP, BMC (BEM, Patrol, Ctrl-M, Marimba, Remedy ITSP/ITSM)
SME knowledge of the Automation technologies would be beneficial:
o Opalis
o RealOps
o Script based Automation
Knowledge of ITSM and BSM methodologies
Knowledge of DevOps processes
ITIL Foundation knowledge
Good fault finder.
Must be able to work well within a team
Flexible approach to work & willingness to learn
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
Ability to plan and implement complex changes very good attention to detail is required
Professional attitude co-operative and mature approach to work, must be client-focused
Structured and well considered, troubleshooting skills
