The Service Engineer is tasked with ensuring that MMD equipment in the field performs in accordance with its intended design and meets or surpasses the performance levels expected by the customer.The need for this work can originate from the original scope of supply contract, or from specific
customer requests, or from routine site visits. The range of duties can include commissioning, testing,repairing, replacing, fault-finding, modifying and/or supervising of the MMD equipment and related third party equipment. Very often whilst on site, the Service Engineer becomes the singlerepresentative of the MMD company, and the customer expects him to have the experience and know how to solve all situations that may arise.
The Service Engineer must be able to:
*Assemble the various sub-assemblies of an MMD machine into a working unit.
*Move any piece of MMD equipment into or out of a working position at a mine site, quarry, or
other such location.
*Perform necessary inspections on a newly assembled MMD machine to make sure that it will
operate properly on start-up
*Perform specific tests on MMD equipment, such as stall-tests, output feed size gradations,
lubrication feed rate measurements, temperature monitoring, take current overload readings
*Perform troubleshooting tasks to identify the root cause of any problems being experienced
*Monitor MMD equipment operating in the field for the purposes of improving the performance,
either in terms of throughput rate, output product size, ability to handle difficult (eg. hard or
sticky) material, or for any other reason. Thereafter the Service Engineer must be able to
*present his suggestions to the customer, or to the MMD sales or design company, and also
carry out the necessary work to effect the changes required.
*Remove broken or damaged equipment and replace it with new/repaired equipment.
*Provide training and/or instruction to the customer's workforce on how to perform maintenance
