Job Description

Position Overview:

Deliver sustainable competitive advantage through the strategic procurement of quality materials at competitive prices. Strategically manage cost down initiatives through selecting right commodities, negotiation, identification of competent supply base, while improving levels of supplier quality and service. Understand risk management, commodity, value, domestic and global economics, supply chain networking. Execute commodity planning and management processes, in the successful implementation, execution, and compliance to global procurement and commodity/spend category strategies, contracts, processes, and policies.
He will be required to work closely with Global factories all to identify prospective projects which will bring cost savings and maintain the quality standards as per the global standards. He will also be required to identify projects based on total spend and the commodity capability of domestic suppliers.
Support the procurement process to effectively and efficiently manage the supply chain and provide various supply chain models to suit various business and product needs mitigating the supply risk.

Responsibilities:

Should be preferably from construction equipment industry background
Should have preferably worked in Green field project/New product development
Should have in-depth knowledge about commercials and technical of major commodities like Castings, Forgings, Steel fabrications, Hydraulics, Gears and other mechanical components.
Should have good knowledge and understanding on supplier development and quality management process and shall be able to guide quality team to meet global quality standard.
Should have worked in global transnational company and should possess good understanding on European and North American working culture
Should have good understanding on finance and capable of doing cost and benefit analysis to drive decision making based on total cost of ownership model
Should have in-depth knowledge of should costing for commodities like castings, forgings, fabrications and hydraulic cylinders
Should have hands on experience in sourcing low volume high value parts
Should be able to assess, mitigate and manage material supply risks to ensure no stock outs.
Should possess knowledge of various sourcing strategies
Should possess in-depth knowledge of risk mitigation strategies, contingency planning for various sourcing strategies
Should ensure that the interest level of both internal customers and suppliers are protected by showing good interpersonal skills
Facilitate continual improvement of supplier operations through routine assessments and performance measurements.
Should have strong understanding of market and price trends, monitor competitive factors and provide perspective to the organization.
Coordination with CFT to identify and align with their expectations.
Use spend analysis to monitor spend at a regional/site level and ensure that all purchases follow the predefined Procurement process.
Experience in dealing with foreign team members (suppliers/intercompany)

Qualifications:

B. Tech/BE in Mechanical/Metallurgy (MBA preferred)
Minimum 12years procurement experience or similar buying experience with strong knowledge of supplier industry that is specific to the position.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Process management or Quality Improvement Process skills are a plus.
Strong negotiation skills. Must possess a high level of diplomacy and able to influence effectively.
Excellent computer literacy skills: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Excellent leadership qualities. Must be able to delegate responsibility, supervise people and empower the decision process.
