As a senior civil engineer working from our Birmingham office, you will be expected to combine managerial leadership and technical responsibilities working on highway projects within the West Midlands and supporting other teams in the UK and on international projects. The role carries a high degree of autonomy.
You will have responsibility for:
Promoting and ensuring adherence to our health and safety policy and procedures.
Managing discrete design packages and multi-disciplinary design teams.
Guiding teams and clients through the approval processes, including the discharge of associated conditions.
Showing technical leadership and providing technical expertise and advice.
Controlling task programme and budgets.
Presenting technical advice to clients and stakeholders.
Assisting senior project managers on major schemes and business development.
Motivation and performance of junior staff.
Proactively liaising with and reporting to their line manager and/or project manager/director.
You will be expected to have/be:
A demonstrable track record in highway design (an understanding of LRT design would be beneficial).
Proven experience in leading design teams.
A Chartered engineer (Incorporated Engineer will also be considered) with ICE or CIHT.
Technically astute and experienced in coaching, mentoring and developing people and teams.
Commercial awareness, financial and technical reporting ability.
Able to interpret client requirements to produce a sound engineering proposal.
Knowledge of highway design standards (DMRB) and specification (MCHW).
A confident communicator with good verbal and written skills.
Demonstrable experience of project management across multi-disciplines.
Prepared to work overseas should the opportunity arise.
Experience of working for Highways Agency, local authorities or Passenger Transport Executives.
Ability to assist in the development of the business.
Knowledge of contract preparation and procurement.
Full awareness of H&S Legislation and how it is applied to the design process
