Electrical engineer should be able design, develop and maintain electrical control systems and/or components to required specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality and sustainability.
Electrical engineer will be involved in projects from the concept and detail of the design through to implementation, testing and handover. He will be later on also be involved in maintenance programmes of the Lime plant.
As well as having technical knowledge, electrical engineer needs to be able to manage a project in his electrical field. He also needs to have a commercial awareness. Additional attributes, such as team leadership or management skills, are required as careers progress.
Typical work activities
Electrical engineer ranges of activities are as follows:
identifying lime plant process requirements for electrical design and automation;
leading a design of required electrical and automation systems needed for the lime plant operation;
reading and understanding the design specifications and technical drawings;
researching suitable solutions and estimating costs and timescales for electrical systems and automation used/needed for the lime plant;
working to KSA, British (BS), European (EN) and other standards;
understanding and able to program PLC systems based on Siemens Simatic S7
understanding and able to program various HMI systems;
liaising with others in the design team;
liaising with internal client and contractors;
attending meetings on site;
designing and conducting tests;
recording, analysing and interpreting test data;
proposing modifications and retesting electrical and automation systems;
qualifying the final electrical and automation system;
being responsible for the servicing and maintaining electrical and automation equipments;
preparing and holding electrical and automation systems documentation, writing reports and giving presentations;
monitoring a electrical and automation systems in use to improve on future design.
