Job Description

Position Skills and Experience Requirements:

Tertiary qualifications in the field of Engineering (e.g. Civil, Mechanical, Technology, Industrial, etc.)

Professional Membership of a nationally recognised Quality Organisation (e.g. AQS, AOQ, UKAS, etc.)

Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor certified by a recognised national/international organisation (e.g. UKAS, IRCA, etc.);

Drivers licence for passenger motor vehicles

MS Office Suite, EDMS, Enterprise Software packages (e.g. SAP)

High ability to read and interpret technical drawings

Previous experience with projects of a similar nature and size in a comparative role

Proven success in managing QC Teams of a significant size (above 10 staff)

Track record of successfully managing Quality Control on multiple work sites / work fronts

Thorough understanding of the Construction sequencing and dependability of various works

High proficiency in using and interpreting International Technical Standards and Codes of Practice and an ability to rapidly acquire knowledge about those

Demonstrated ability to prioritise own workload and that of his subordinates in order to achieve the business goals

High proficiency with statistical techniques related to the data which is collected and analysed in the construction industry

Ability to train and mentor both Construction and QC Team using variety of tools and techniques

Excellent communication skills both verbal and in writing including report and correspondence writing

Position Outcomes and Key Personal Deliverables:
Establishing robust QC system which will ensure that the self-certification is enhanced and supported throughout the project lifecycle

Prevent Nonconformances by proactively working with Construction personnel to ensure that preparedness for work is addressed

Stop the works when it is evident that the works will be noncomplying and/or will

require rework

Implement and maintain QC Registers as required by the Contract and other applicable Plans, Guidelines, Standards and Procedures in order to support the integrity of the QC activities supporting the works

Leading and managing the QC Team (including workload controls, performance reviews, training and ongoing support)

Ensuring appropriate QC coverage of all Project activities

Reviewing Method Statements and ensuring that the QC components are identified and addressed in associated ITPs

Coordinating the engagement of the 3rd Party labs and monitoring their performance in order to meet the Project needs

Ensures that Subcontractors and Suppliers implement the applicable controls specified in their approved QMS

Responsible for the analysis of non-conformances and involved in the proposal, implementation and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions

Ensures by random checks that the documents used in the work section by the JV staff and by the subcontractors are controlled according to the Document & Data Control procedures

Assists project staff in the preparation of quality documentation, such as method statements, inspection & test plans and work procedures, Quality Control Plans for special processes.

Preparing periodical (weekly/monthly) and ad-hoc reports

Performing works inspections and preparing reports

Performing First and Second Party Audits

Collating documents and records required

Prepare raw data in various formats for analytical and reporting purposes

Promote Quality principles at every opportunity

Act as a Mentor regarding the interpretation and implementation of the QCS 2010 requirements

Reviewing Method Statements, ITPs and Checklists for the Works

Any activity undertaken shall be compliant with the traceable guiding document

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

The job is based mainly in the office however frequent visits to the site are required and can be prolonged depending on the business requirement

The employee can be exposed to high temperatures for an extended period of time while at sites

The person must be able to see colours (no colour blind person can be employed)

Six days working weeks with extended working hours; shift work; ability to work weekends, etc.

Some of the working time will be in the tunnel with artificial light

Exposure to dust is expected and PPE is provided as required

Exposure to high level noise is expected due to the machinery operating in the vicinity and PPE is provided as required
