Job Description

Thermal Design of all types of Fired Heaters of API type
Operate & run FRNC programme
Familiar with API 560/ 530 codes & its applicability
Able to read & identify deviations on customer specs / tender document s
Preparation of P&I diagrams/ PFD
Mechanical Design calculations for pressure part/ piping, thickness, etc.
Combustion calculations
Fluid flow calculations for flue gas ducts/ pipelines
Preparation of layouts/ general arrangement drawings
Preparation of bought out specifications for Burners /fans/ pumps/ valves/ ESP/ coal/ ash handling/ burner, etc. & evaluation of quotations
Preparation of bill of materials for cost estimation purposes
Detailed Thermal Design during the execution stage
Site performance evaluation/ Performance Guarantee test response/ troubleshooting

11. External interface and its purpose:
Interact with Client / Consulatant during the tender discussion, to understand requirements and explain the Thermax offering

12. Internal interface and its purpose:
Marketing during the tender stage, for preparing the offering
Mechanical engineering, Field engineering, Projects, Manufacturing during the construction and execution phase, for tracking progress, as well as troubleshooting or problem solving that may be required through the implementation
Electrical & Instrumentation engineering during commissioning and execution, for P&I preparation

13. Critical Competencies for the job:
Knowledge of Thermal Engineering on circulation, heat transfers, materials of construction, pressure drop issues on gas & steam side, velocity permissible in ducting & piping a must
Product knowledge of heaters heaters, etc. with respect to construction, capacity, performance, thermal engineering, mechanical engineering and relevant customer feedback experience is essential
Knowledge of optimum layouts of pressure parts, ducting, piping, instrumentation and structurals is essential
Knowledge of various codes like API /ASME
Knowledge of prices of plates, tubes, structurals and boughtouts of regular items for incorporating at the design stage for optimum cost benefit would be an advantage.
Ability to work in cross functional teams
Ability to interact with international and domestic customers, and influence them
