Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage the end-to-end SDLC for multiple projects and programs in a hands-on, technical development management capacity

* Interact with and manage various stakeholders incl. testers, development team and other stakeholders

* Manage technical issues and problem incidents in a proactive and diligent manner

* Responsible for formulating and reviewing development plans and requirements

* Responsible for reviewing and approving designs/code to ensure quality of delivery

* Create and define resource plans for development tasks

* Manage the activities of offshore technology delivery team members

* Provide coordination for all special (post-production validation, etc.) testing activities.

* Devise effective mitigation and escalation strategies to address program risks and issues

* Drive project governance methodology and ensure compliance to tollgates

* Accurate and timely reporting of the projects against plan

* Create and contribute to key program artefacts: project plans, budgets, communication plans, task plans

* Ensure adherence to Wide Project Management standards

* Use standard project management tools and techniques effectively

* Provide sign-off for all deployments into the test environments

* Ensure code coverage & traceability to requirements/defects & define/arrange for requisite developer training

* Provide leadership and mentor and guide junior team members within the site

Provide regular status updates to the project stakeholders; identify project risks/ issues & drive resolution

Knowledge/Experience:

At least 10-13 years of hands-on expertise in software development and technology management, specifically within a mission-critical, global application environment

At least 8 years expertise of technical leadership and management within a team of developers (15+), specifically within a Java focused software development environment using technologies such as JEE, UI technologies, Spring framework, Hibernate, Oracle database, Web sphere and Unix

At least 6 years experience in program/ project delivery management areas as planning, scheduling, issue and risk management, financial management, communication management

At least 6 years experience leading and mentoring software development teams

Strong technical expertise in technical analysis, design, architecture and development

Technologist with a strong bent for learning and mastering new technologies, tools, concepts and practices

Strong team player with lateral thinking skills and flexible/positive attitude in the work environment

Problem-solver who is able to maintain a positive attitude and get results in the light of severe challenges

A strong commitment to quality and efficiency

Significant expertise in driving process improvements and standards in areas such as configuration management, build management, software code/design reviews, software methodologies (Waterfall, Agile)

Skills Required

10-12 years: End-to-End Software Development (incl. req analysis, technical analysis & design, development, test and deployment) of mission-critical apps using various Java, IBM and Oracle technologies

8+ years: Technology leadership and team management

6+ years: Program/ Project Management

5+ years: Quality and Process improvement and governance across the entire SDLC

4+ years: Enterprise integration solutions such as TIBCO EMS, WebSphere MQ , NDM

Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills

Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation of complex information and data).

Relationship management skills -- ability to develop and sustain positive partnerships and be a team player

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree (in science, computers, information technology or engineering)

Project Management certification such as PMP or Prince 2

Candidate should be willing to work late in the evening India time on as-needed basis in order to interact with US onshore team and to meet urgent requests by Clients.

Professional certification in Java, IBM or Oracle technologies will be a plus
