MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical evaluation of reserve and production risk
Recommendations regarding borrowing bases and exceptions to credit guidelines and policies
Identifying and mitigating key technical risks
Insight and perspective on company operating activity and performance
Insight and perspective on new trends, plays, technologies in the oil and gas industry
Preparing engineering memo's that clearly and succinctly captures the above
Plan, monitor and validate surveillance activities for wells.
Perform studies and projects to improve excellence.
Evaluate new technologies, tools or techniques and decide on suitability.
Reviews well files and develops procedures and cost estimates for authorization for expenditures (AFE's) for recompletions and complex work-over. Obtains bids and coordinates equipment and personnel for the field operations.
Manage capital programs involving project management of drilling and recompletions of existing wells from planning to execution, providing cost evaluations and assessments through to project tracking.
Reviews and approves all operated and non-operated authorization for expenditures (AFE), for the assigned area.
Monitors daily production activities, weekly cash flow projections, and non-op work over reports and contracts related to operations (i.e. gauging, utility, compressor, etc.).
Responsible for well surveillance, identifying and carrying out production improvement opportunities on wells, facilities, operations.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve production through optimization and stimulation of wells in gas, light oil and heavy oil.
Implement reservoir surveillance to improve performance.
Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction.
Help support technical excellence of the operating staff and field operating personnel, and work closely with other multi-disciplinary teams.
Coordinates reviews with field operations and engineering personnel to optimize individual well performance.
Direct and monitor the completion and evaluation of wells, well testing, or well surveys.
Analyze data to recommend placement of wells and supplementary processes to enhance production.
Specify and supervise well modification and stimulation programs to maximize oil and gas recovery.
Assist management and other personnel to solve operating problems.
Maintain records of drilling and production operations.
Coordinate the installation, maintenance, and operation of oil field equipment.
Supervisory and Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KEY COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS:
Proficient petroleum engineering skill set
Must have good presentation, communication and technical writing skills
Ability to work with little or no supervision and within a team; sharing activities with other professionals, participating on peer reviews, reviewing tasks performed by others, giving and accepting feedback.
Widespread geographic experience in Oil & Gas industry rather than a particular regional focus
Active participation in industry/professional organizations
Experienced in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines with the flexibility to respond to changing needs.
Must have superior written and verbal communication skills coupled with maturity and confidence.
Ability to independently articulate a clear and actionable strategy that meets objectives.
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact at all levels and exercise good judgment in dealing with confidential information and materials.
TECHNICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATION:
Must have a extensive knowledge of oil and gas economic evaluation
Must have strong technical background in production/reservoir engineering and a good understanding of geology.
Petro physical analysis skills and reservoir simulation knowledge helpful.
Position requires ability to audit company and consultant projections in a short time-frame using the above skill set, but without re-engineering the work
Some SEC reserve reporting experience preferred
Aries or PhdWin competency regarded positively
Must have 5-10 yrs oil and gas industry experience, including 3+ yrs production/reservoir engineering experience. Some operations knowledge desired
Preferable to have experience with offshore / GOM field development
Minimum of BS in Engineering (preferably Petroleum), Mechanical Engineering, or other related 4/5 year degree.MBA/Professional Engineering Registration a desired plus
