The Principal RAN Design Engineer exhibits an expert understanding of wireless network design, capacity planning, network optimization and performance engineering.
The Principal Design engineer must be able to assume responsibility for multiple concurrent engineering activities with minimal supervision and provide supervision to other engineers.
The Principal Engineer will
Develop theoretical Radio Access Network designs utilizing all aspects of network planning software including the ability to incorporate drive test data and the ability to tune propagation models
Plan network capacity improvements based on subscriber forecast, usage models and trending of performance and traffic data
Determine optimal cell placement and performance based on factors relating to interference, coverage footprint, interference, link budgets and capacity management.
Supervise and perform activities related to network design and planning.
Minimum of 10 to 14 years related industry experience in design of wireless networks
Strong leadership skillsincluding the ability to advise and educate other engineers on best practices and design strategy
Exceptionalverbal and written communication skills
Expert knowledge and understandingof wireless network engineering fundamentals, methods and procedures
Knowledge of and experience with LTE, CDMA and EVDO
Knowledge of VoLTE highly desired
Knowledge of network planning tools such as Atoll, Asset, Planet, Keima Overture
Knowledge of network analysis tools such as Actix, Xynergy, Windcatcher, XCAP
Practical experience with wireless data technologies such as CDMA/EVDO, UMTS/HSPA, and LTE with a strong understanding of air interface, protocols and parameters
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and Mapinfo
