To Maintains a high level of understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, including ASME BPE /ISPE and API standards, and other piping standards, as well as Company Engineers guidelines and standards. Provides suggestions for improvements to Company Engineers standards.
- Mentors entry level to mid-level engineers at Company in order to develop their skills.
- May serve as lead piping specialist on medium complexity projects.
- Performs the Leads in the development of mechanical piping specifications Preparation of piping layout drawings as per vessel nozzle orientations, to be skilled in pipe routing using Equipment layout and P&ID. Familiar with Procurement Engineering activities, such as RFQ& Vendor documents review. 3D modelling of Piping and Equipment
Smart plant review to ensure a sound, accurate and practical design.
Checking and approved of isometrics before issuing for construction (IFC).
Review of piping GAD.
Familiar with GAD's, Isometric drawings and Support details.Pipie rack study and load conditions Verification of pipe thickness calculations
Preparation MR (Material Requisition) & PS (Purchase Specification).
Study of the Input Data from the Client.( P&ID, GAD, Line List)
Pipe Stress Analysis using appropriate available tools
Researches manufacturer's drawings, data sheets, and piping, valve and fitting cut sheets.
Directs the work of welders, fitters and helpers and other people and reviews work progress and results.
Works with design leads, engineering managers, project managers, department managers, and Quality Inspectors ensure that project piping issues are clearly communicated and understood to facilitate the timely execution of trouble tickets.
May perform basic database management functions
Maintains engineering records related to piping, valves, fittings, and other specialties.
Formulates IDMC piping standards, guidelines and specifications, and periodically reviews and obtains current information in order to make recommendations to those standards and guidelines.
May conduct training sessions for other engineers.
Piping specifications are created and maintained in Smart Plant Reference Data (SPRD), however SPRD experience is not required.
Knowledge of piping standards & ASME codes standards.
Pipe Stress Analysis, Modelling Equipment and Piping.
Smart Plant Review, Naviswork Model Review
Auto-CAD 2012 or above
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering in Mechanical, Chemical, or equivalent engineering program from an accredited four-year college or university program is required with 5- 10+ years experience performing piping engineering related duties.
Pharma /Bio Pharma Equipment Manufacturing experience is required.
Experience with any database driven mechanical design tool (PDS, PMS, Plant-4D, SmartPlant 3D, etc.) is preferred.
