Job Description

Job Objective:

Optimize Direct and Indirect cost by balancing tax planning, risk taking and compliance
Provide management counsel to VP Tax and Senior Management
Be the ultimate repository of key tax facts as regards both Indirect and Direct Taxes
Act as the key facilitator for integrated tax management, risk assessment, and leveraging on tax opportunities

Job Responsibilities:

Lead compliance of the company as a whole with all direct and indirect tax laws so as to ensure risk free environment for the business. Own Compliance audits of the Units and drive the compliance culture
Lead and Own Training centers for Taxes at both HO and at Unit level Training of all Tax Executives and Tax Managers by rotation.
Tax planning for both Direct and indirect taxes with special focus on neutralization of cost through Optimal Credit Regime .Planning tax exempt zone activities and ensuring minimal risk in implementation of projects .Driving the MAT management planning for all years till 2018-19.
Management of litigation across the country at various forums as regards the fiscal laws and in specific liaison with external counsels at higher appellate forums such as Tribunals and High Courts
Providing service to all Units on what to contest in terms of tax law and assist in managing optimal risk free factories .Provide Contract Packing enterprises advise and back ending all problem solving.
Strategize the hearing of cases of locations, factories and planning for value based clearances of disputes.
Co-ordinate actions with IRS in India to pre-empt litigation at relevant quasi-judicial levels.
Interaction with State VAT authorities in States on Statutory clearances and resolving contentious issues. Management of local Sales Tax spanning over 20 legislations and other taxes such as TOT from a litigation perspective and planning emphasis.
Develop and maintain standard relationship with governmental authorities involved in administration of tax laws without compromising performance with integrity.
Leading the team on the "learning group" inside the company Finance so as to ensure continuous updation with external agency views such as ICAI & ICWAI.
Interaction with statutory and tax auditors as regards tax matters having an implication on the financial accounts and tax accounts. Management of Tax Litigation Update Systems and reporting for SEC purposes on a quarterly basis.
Implementation of various tax related accounting standards having an implication on the business.
Develop and maintain a tax efficient system. Tax mitigation exercises and presenting to IMT areas requiring fortification of risk mitigation.
Strategize and cultivate good working relationships with principal Chambers of Commerce like CII ,ASSOCHAM and FICCI Tax Committees\
To act as the Joint Leader of the Committee on GST implementation in the company.

Education: CA/ICMA / Additional qualification of ACS or Law will be an added advantage.

Minimum Work Experience: 13 to 17 years of experience in a leading FMCG - Food processing industry focused mainly towards management of tax legislation. Experience in other Industrial sectors can also be considered appropriately.

Critical Experiences / Exposure Required: Experience in management of international Transfer Pricing laws related to India and countries such as UK and US. In depth knowledge of business processes. Must be capable of donning the leadership role in Tax of the Company in another 3 years time frame.

Functional Competencies:

Sound litigation knowledge, understanding of specific interpretation skills. Must have a good background of working of Indian Courts Tax benches
Application of general commercial principle to litigation situation.
High Communication skills to satisfy statutory authorities ,quasi-judicial authorities and internal stakeholders .
Interaction skills to satisfy internal stake holders on the contribution of the function

IT Knowledge: Exposure to front line ERP package will be an added advantage.

Travel: As Units and Zones are widespread aggressive Travel may be required.
