Job Description

Technical Skills:

In-depth understanding of grammar concepts, and the ability to explain them readily and independently while editing documents
Ensuring all documents are free of errors and accurate in terms of grammar, punctuation, tone, spelling, context, and content
Preliminary understanding of authoritative style manuals (Chicago Manual of Style, AP, Economist, etc.)
Understanding of different writing styles across industries/organizations and their application while editing
Ability to modernize/improve the internal language style guide as per changing market conditions or client demand
Strong understanding of regionalism and vernacular influence on written English across geographies.
Ability to paraphrase and enhance the creativity of content; without changing the intended meaning
Ability to cut through the clutter (remove redundancies and write crisp, to-the-point sentences)
Knowledge of authentic and acceptable media sources for fact checking/cross-checking.

People Management:

Ability to manage a team of 8-15 editors who are responsible for editing various research reports, blogs, white papers, thought leadership articles and internal policy documents
Ability to allocate work among team members in a judicious way, capitalizing on key strengths of individuals and aligning interests and aspirations, besides ensuring high utilization/efficiency rate and standardization
Ability to connect with everyone within the team and be sensitive to the aspirations of team members
Ability to have a fair and balanced approach when dealing with people matters
Ability to conceive, conceptualize and ideate initiatives which are aimed at overall skill enhancement and process improvement
Is a good team player and is able to competently guide and work with team members to come up with achievable solutions

Project Management:

Ability to come up with ways to improve quality
Ability to multitask and execute tasks in an organized manner; prioritize requests based on quality and urgency, without compromising deadlines
Ability to ideate for editorial publications
Ability to identify and fix potential gaps in analysis and develop robust internal processes to discourage recurrence

Education:

Bachelors/Masters degree in English/mass communication/journalism or other relevant academic fields
Experience
Minimum of 12-15 years of relevant experience preferably in the KPO sector, or publication and/ or media industry
Experience in editing business research reports, news articles, marketing literature, white papers, books, etc.
Experience in conducting training sessions on Business English and/or other related modules
In-depth experience in managing and upscaling small to medium sized editorial teams
Skills and Competence:

Excellent communication skills verbal and written
Well versed in MS Office
Strong people management skills
