The fair trade Network of Asia and Pacific Producers (NAPP) organization, Hong Kong, has a mission to facilitate fairtrade certified producers in Asia and Pacific and to be effective in various functions and activities across the Pacific through an existing wide range of products and services including, but not limited to, access to markets. To that end, NAPP engages in advocacy, consultancy, support services marketing and financial, information dissemination and training. NAPP is a multi-stakeholder body comprising representatives of producer organizations, Joint Bodies, small farmer organizations and promoting bodies who are certified by or registered with the Fairtrade Labelling system (FLO). As the official representative of Asian and Pacific Producers within Fairtrade International, NAPP also works to ensure that Asian and Pacific realities and conditions are taken into account while setting Fairtrade Standards without compromising on the basic principles of Fairtrade.
Reason for hire:
Through its existing wide range of services (currently focusing on, but not limited to, access to markets). To that end, NAPP engages in advocacy, consultancy, support services marketing and financial, information dissemination and training. To expand this suite of services, it is envisaged that the incumbent would be effective and efficient in the role. NAPP, therefore, is seeking to hire a dynamic and results driven individual as Manager - Partnerships to drive their fundraising and partnership activities in the Asia and Pacific region. This is a new position since NAPP is in its restructuring phase and there is an increasing need of a person to drive the partnership and fundraising activities for NAPP. This position will (i) develop and manage partnerships of organizations doing such and similar work as Fairtrade and (ii) responsible for fine tuning the fundraising strategy in accordance to the prevailing external donor environment. S/he will manage related activities including identifying, networking, and engaging with external groups/individuals with the aim of increasing awareness of NAPPs work and to raise funds for NAPP and its member producer organizations.
Responsibilities & Results:
H/She will be responsible for building relationships and developing partnerships with like-minded national and international civil society organizations or grass root development organization with similar areas of work or interests.
The incumbent would be responsible to develop a comprehensive strategy for Partnership and Fundraising. This would include proposal writing, presentation and new donor development along with maintaining relationships with the existing donors.
H/She will be responsible for garnering in funds for the member Producer organizations through development of a detailed financial access strategy, planning and scoping out new donors, providing guidance and information to the producer organizations to enable them to access the available funds.
The incumbent will also be reporting to the COO / CEO and required to work very closely with the management and regionally present managers on several projects and partnerships at a time.
Essential Experience and Skills:
A Post graduate in any discipline from a reputed University / Institute.
Minimum 7 8 years of total experience with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in fundraising and or sales/marketing with strong relationship building attribute.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of other regional languages (Chinese, South East Asian languages) would be most helpful.
Strategic planner and results driven individual with strong business acumen. Demonstrated track record of achieving business/fundraising targets with good networks preferably within the sector.
Multitasking abilities and proven experience in external representation, multi-stakeholder engagement.
Ability to construct project / funding proposals and all relevant documents ((including Investment Memorandum, Business Plans, Log-frames (preferably) etc)) and excellent in presentation and documentation.
Proven facilitation, mediation and negotiation skills.
Drive, commitment and ownership with an eye for detail with the ability to collate and put things together from multiple sources / stakeholders.
Must be a self-starter; the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Highly ethical and can control / manage conflicts of interest and maintain strict confidentiality
Must have experience in meeting multiple deadlines and balance competing priorities
