Associate Director/ Chief Manager- Procurement

Result oriented leader with proven success in leadership roles in the areas of Global sourcing, Materials procurement, Vendor development. Having expertise in procurement with through understanding of supp ly markets, Trends, Cost drivers along with business understanding of pharmaceutical industry.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for procurement of Key raw materials, Solvents, Reagents and R&D procurement for TAPI, India and global locations.
  • Supplier development, relationship building and partnership maintenance - Foster and develop relationships with key suppliers to ensure alignment of key business, quality and compliance objectives to TAPIs Global strategic direction and local BU expectations. This includes periodic visits to key suppliers to manage continuous improvement activities apart from new vendor development.
  • QOTIF Ensure delivery of products are in accordance with targets such as exceeding the set targets of Quality on Time in Full to avoid stock out at site locations.
  • Inventory Work closing with planning team in procurement of input materials at right time with right quantity and avoid accumulation of non moving stock. Rejections are to be handled with care to avoid recurrence of such rejections. Meet year on year targets of allowed inventory levels by managing procurement end to end.
  • Price Savings This role is expected to have complete understanding of market price trend for the raw materials used in the production process to achieve set savings target on year on year basis.
  • Secure Supply Expected to be up to date on market situation and ensure security in supply by introducing right alternate suppliers by closely monitoring the movement of both local and international supply markets. Expected to maintain multiple sources for sourced products at all the times while meeting regulatory compliance requirements
  • Regulatory Understanding Expected to have reasonable understanding on the regulatory requirements relating to procurement, supplier selection, dealing with problems etc.,
  • Team Development- Work closely with procurement team in building their capabilities on a regular basis. Identify improvement areas in direct reports and train them in to be at par with industry requirements in meeting company expectations.

Key deliverables of the position:

  • Lead the team of buyers for the respective categories for buying consolidation, Strategic advantage, negotiations and timely delivery to users.
  • Align with stakeholders and deliver the strategy implementation.
  • Work closely with categories to achieve assigned medium and long term procurement strategy and value
  • Vendor development for the select categories to deliver long term strategic advantage in close coordination with the user departments
  • Lead / participate in the Cross Functional Teams to drive wide consensus and new ideas in line with the category strategic road map
  • - Define cost reduction target for category through strategic procurement and deliver year on year.
  • Project Management of agreed short, medium and long term plans.
  • Carry out spent analytics for the procurement area and thus arrive at potential opportunities and action plans.
  • Ensure compliance to company policy and procedures and help build / improve the control environment.

Educational qualification:

B. Tech (Chemical Engineering) or M. Sc. (Chemistry) or equivalent
Degree / Programme in General Management, Materials Management is preferable


12 to 15 years of experience
