Job Description

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The key roles of the Segment Finance Head are as follows:

1.1. To provide a bridge and align Group Finance Strategy and Business Strategy.
1.2. To align and standardise all Finance policies, processes and procedures within the Business Segment.
1.3. To provide functional leadership and supervision to the FHs in the respective operations making up
the Business Segment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The below key responsibility areas are critical when interacting with Senior Management within the Business

Segment and Operations.
Assist the Group in framing objectives, policies and procedures relating to the function (to the extent such
policies are non-existent) and assist in implementation of the policies & procedures; monitor compliance and
progress.

1. ENSURE TIMELY CONSIDERATION AND CONCLUSION OF CAPEX PROPOSALS (ROUTINE AND
EXPANSIONARY)
Coordinate funding arrangements; monitor funding and costs
Monthly review - project implementation, project cash flows and other reports

2 QUARTERLY REVIEW - PAYBACK PERIOD, RETURN ON INVESTMENT AND OTHER BASE-CAMP
PARAMETERS

3 OPTIMISE CAPITAL STRUCTURE
Formulate strategy to move towards policy and monitor changes and movement towards the
desired structure (review on half-yearly basis)

4 EFFECTIVE WORKING CAPITAL MANAGEMENT
Monitor levels and costs; Formulate action plans
Monthly Review - stocks, debtors, creditors, cash & bank balances, Other current
assets/liabilities(refer to interim measures for the time being) and cash-flows; enforce
corrective and preventive actions to bring home the benefits

5 OPTIMISE BORROWING LEVELS AND COSTS
Strengthen relationships, coordinate arrangements and negotiate costs/other terms and
synergies on Group relationship
Monthly review utilization levels, costs, other terms; ensure timely payment of interest and
other charges and compliance with all the covenants; ensure timely renewals (refer to interim
measures for the time being)

6 OPTIMISE CUSTOMER CREDIT RISK
Finalize formats, methods and monitor adherence to norms

7 OPTIMISE INSURANCE COVER
Build relationships, monitor coverage, renewals and costs; assist in settlement of claims

8 FACILITATE AND MAXIMISE GROUP INTEREST THRU INTRA GROUP BUSINESS
Facilitate group interests, monitor revenues, dues, ensure reconciliation of balances

9 OPTIMISE FOREIGN EXCHANGE RISK
Frequent review levels of exposure, coverage, gains/losses, markets and actions plans

10 BUSINESS PLANNING PROCESS
Coordinate the processes, devise formats
Monthly review actual performance and variances

11 PERIODICAL BUSINESS PERFORMANCE REVIEW
Devise formats, processes
Monthly performance analysis
Ensure tax compliance

12 MEETINGS AND VISITS
SFHs should visit the operations (including service centres) they are responsible for; bigger companies/operations - once a month; small or very small companies/operations either once in a quarter or half-yearly.
During the visits, SFHs should review the Finance Function as well as participate in Business review.
During the visits, SFHs should meet the Banks/FIs as applicable; the auditors and other parties as applicable.
At the end of the visit, a meeting should be held with the BH. Notes of the visits should be sent to the GCFO and BHs including CH (where applicable).
Attend relevant Board meetings when requested by the GCFO or BH.

13 ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES

The SFH will be actively involved together with the GCFO if finalising the KPAs and KPIs of the FH and with the BH & FH for one level below the FH.
The above matrix will be followed for appointments, separations, reviews, increments, promotion and bonus.
For leave within the function; prevailing reporting line to be followed.
The SFHs are to provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to their respective FHs.
