Job Description

Today, United Way has expanded nationally into a vibrant network operating in seven major cities namely Bangalore, Baroda, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai, with the national office located in Mumbai. Reason for hire:
United Way of India is seeking to hire a dynamic and result driven individual as Resource Mobilization Head to drive their fundraising and partnership activities in India. It requires an outstanding individual, with a strong interest in development issues.

This is a new position that has been created and United Way India is looking for an individual who is an achiever and passionate to play the role of the Resource Mobilization Head. The incumbent will work very closely with the Functional Heads and the other UWI staff in a collaborative and cohesive manner to reach the organizations goals. This position will provide focus on building partnerships with corporate, foundations and HNIs along with donor relationship management. The incumbent will lead the fundraising initiative to meet organizational targets, strategize corporate fundraising, implement it and build organizational capabilities towards desired goals. This individual must possess proficient oral and written communications skills with excellent organizational and managerial capabilities.
Responsibilities & Results:
Maintain relationships with investor/donors as Lead Account Manager.
Develop an integrated resource mobilization strategy that contributes to the delivery of the overall UWI strategy.
Execute the strategy timely and through skillful deployment of resources across Chapters.
Manage all day-to-day activities that contribute to mobilization of resources, including brand building, communication & publicity, events, merchandising and donor management.
Nurture existing relationships and constantly expand current network of donors by tapping into local organisations, foundations, HNIs.
Work closely with the program teams at Chapter level to guide them in funding requirements and fund utilization issues.
Manage, build and motivate the resource mobilization teams across Chapters to ensure performance and results are sustainable and on target.
Guide Chapters in acquiring funding support from local organisations.
Actively help a Chapter mobilize funds for a CoE Program.
Prescribe, lead and conduct market research and marketing initiatives to assess donor priorities and identify opportunities for resource mobilization.
Create an external support network of professionals to augment performance of the in-house team and minimize costs.
Ensure documentation of all procedures, donor details, reports, etc
Contribute to growth and development of United Way of India through participation in the Operations & Strategy Committees.
Support Campaigns including making presentations to companies, and accounts management.

Essential Experience and Skills:
A post graduate, with minimum 8 to 9 years of extensive experience in raising funds from Corporates and Institutions (Trusts and Foundations)
Strategic thinking and results driven individual with strong business acumen. Demonstrated track record of achieving business targets and sustaining a healthy bottom line. Proven facilitation, mediation and negotiation skills. External leadership and networking skills
Ability to represent United Way India and its international partners in professional forums at the highest level. Enjoy building positive relationships with a wide range of individuals.
Demonstrated experience at networking, negotiation and selling skills.
Someone who takes initiative to follow up as well as create new relationships so as to expand the existing network.
Strong communications skills including presentation, proposal and report writing. Experience of writing proposals and reports for the specific purpose of fund raising. Adroit in written and verbal communication skills in English.
Drive, commitment and ownership
Strong desire to make a difference by working in the not-for-profit sector

Highly Desirable:
Experience working in a foundation or a non-profit organisation with a significant portion of this experience in organizing and directing major fundraising programs will be an added advantage
Basic knowledge of policy making, grantmaking / non profit work environment in India
Experience working with government and business leaders in India.
