The Head of Centre of Excellence has the responsibility to provide strategy and guidance for the Centre of Excellence team. There are 8 direct reports. The role is to build and manage a team of competency-focused personnel, who can then be assigned to project deliveries. These resources will augment the Project Delivery teams by providing specific skill sets during the specific project phases where these skill sets are applicable.
Responsibilities of the role includes:
Work closely with the Head Delivery and Operations and the Head Innovation to define, design and confirm the project implementation strategies and details.
Provide the respective project/competency area specialists to fulfill the demand in resources required on projects. Manage the assignment of the Solution Competency teams to the project team. Define team members role and responsibility, project duration in project delivery (working closely with Head Del & Ops)
Recruit, develop and encourage deep skills development for direct reports and the direct reports team. Provide training opportunities to grow the skill set of the team and maintain the teams industry relevance. Consider industry certification for core skills.
Grow the in-COMPANY local team in terms of knowledge and capability to reduce dependence on seconded resources.
Develop and/or review estimates and estimates assumptions for the projects schedule, effort, and cost using established estimating models, best practices, and past experience. This is specifically for project management methodology, testing methodology, change/adoption management methodology etc.
Manage and drive the scope of the various project phases and activities. Work closely with the Head of Delivery and Ops to ensure a robust, executable and cost-efficient approach to deliver the project.
Engage with project senior management for all key project plans, manage stakeholders expectations by setting the right foundation for the project.
Work in synergy with the Head of Delivery and Ops to ensure that the project outcome fulfills the contract and meets the sponsor's expectations.
Ensures application of best or proven methodologies or techniques consistently across projects, covering the spectrum of the competency areas.
Work closely with the Head of Innovation in preparing the required competencies to embark on new innovation initiatives. This may include new industry verticals, new areas of technology and business models.
Define and communicate clearly team member roles and expectations.
Maintain and promote team morale.
Provide visibility to COMPANY Leadership on department financials and progress, charged-out costs against budgets.
Facilitate the creation of a knowledge exchange based on collateral's built by the respective direct reports.
Champion the adoption, and application of methodology and proven practices.
Create success stories to aid future sales and opportunities
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned Business or IT Consultant or Programme Director with a proven track record of successful project implementation over the past 15+ years.
He/she will have experience managing different business and functional competencies in different vertical markets. He/she will have worked in at least one best- in-class multinational with world-class management practices with renowned methodologies or techniques.
The new Head of Center of Excellence will have international work experience and the ability to manage geographically distributed organizations and work collaboratively with resources from different cultures.
Fluency in English is a must with other languages a plus (especially Hindi and/or Mandarin). Experience in Methodologies, and industry standards will be viewed favorably.
