Job Description

Establish a world class software development function powering a business that serves a highly regulated financial services market with customers who constantly demand and expect accurate, high quality, and on time delivery of software releases to meet their business requirements.This is the single accountable owner of the technology development capability for product.The role will work in close partnership with the Product Manager who is accountable for specification of product and commercial propositions as well as the Head of Technology and Operations who is accountable for architecture, technology infrastructure, operational implementation and risk management.

Participate in the creation and delivery of a strategic platform and applications operating plan.
Review operating plan and performance results with key stakeholders.
Responsible for delivery and execution against agreed plans and SDLC change control procedures.
Responsible for ensuring that the organization is optimized to meet business needs.
Responsible for executing against established global standards for software engineering and product development (i.e. platform alignment, architectural standards, open source compliance, operational supportability).
Responsible for all software engineering and process improvement, ensuring completion of action items and eliminating/minimizing reoccurrence.
Participate in creating enterprise risk plan and mitigating actions.
Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.
Adhere to and has overall accountability for controls imbedded in the SDLC.
Ensure business objectives and budgets are met, driving up execution performance and quality, whilst driving down costs, outages, bugs and execution delays.
Work in close partnership with Product Manager, ensuring efficient and effective management of development resources to meet rolling strategic roadmap of client and business demands.
Provide leadership and direction through managers to achieve business results for multiple technology development functions.
Responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing process ownership of engineering processes and software/content quality, ensuring adherence and compliance occurs through the use of audits and tools.
Decisions significantly impact customer satisfaction, profitability, and revenue.
Responsible for business transformation across the organization including strategic growth and workforce planning.
Accountable for managing performance and talent development, including recruitment, retention and succession plans.

An advanced degree in Computer Science with a minimum of 12 years experience in Software Engineering, Software Licensing, process improvement, creating enterprise risk plan (and mitigation actions), with successful execution footprint against global standards for software engineering and product development.
Must have worked in software development in the financial services industry.
Strong experience in vendor negotiations in regards to software licensing.
Experience in a senior management role, demonstrating varied and strong leadership skills.
Strong technical knowledge and ability, usually obtained through working in varied technical roles.
Experience in working in a global environment.
Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating organizational change.
Experience with software development and Distributed environments.
Excellent communications skills with ability to communicate vision and strategy.
Interact with other business development heads, centers of excellence, Members of development, operations, product and technology management team.
Partners with corporate sourcing on vendor products in selection and negotiation.
