Job Description

Purchase/Sourcing/ Procurement:-

Procurement of capital items ; capital equipments for on going project/ Plant
Directly responsible for reorder consumption based planning & procurement of copper & aluminium cables, stock & non stock engineering spares (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) through SAP.
Managing inventory levels for ensuring ready availability to meet procurement & dispatch targets.

Designing & scheduling material procurement plans for materials, process items & maintenance items.

Coordinating with other departments for material requirement planning, material procurement & purchase planning, ensuring continuous supply at optimum costs.

Handling sourcing through identification of cost effective vendors/suppliers for procurement with an aim of reducing cost while improving quality & reliability.

Vendor Development:-

Identifying and developing alternate vendor source for localization, achieving cost effective purchases of raw materials with reduction in delivery time and improve consistency in quality.

Assessing the performance of the vendors based on various criterions such as quality systems, rejections, quality improvement rate, timely delivery etc.

Developing quality culture at vendors end through auditing and guidance.


Cost Reduction/VA/VE:-


Involved in refining the ideas and making it happen

Implementing strict measures in operating procedures to optimize resource/capacity utilization.

Quality Control/Assurance:-

Ensuring adherence to quality standards & quality system management ISO 9000 & ISO 14001 and maintaining all related documents.

Identifying areas of quality failures and taking steps to rectify the system wide preventive and corrective actions to avoid the reoccurrences.

Practicing quality standards with key emphasis on improving quality and improvement opportunities.


Man Management:-

Leading/motivating teams ensuring their career development and positive contribution to the company.

Imparting training to various personnels, thereby ensuring optimum performance.

Determining the manpower requirement in accordance with the manpower rationalization and production norms.


Should have good Experience in Purchase & Vendor Development.
Should have exposure in Large Integrated Steel Plant.
Should have good negotiation skills.
Computer Skilled
Computer usage for Performance monitoring: Developed periodical performance monitoring system through SAP/ERP/ Oracle with extensive use of computers at all levels
Conversant with MS Office & Lotus Notes release, SAP 4.6 Production system.

Implementation of ISO-10006, ISO- 50001, ISO- 9000, ISO- 9001, ISO- 2008, EMS 14001, OHAS -18001 systems. TPM, WCM, Six sigma,
