As an engineer your responsibilities will include:
Ensuring adherence to our health and safety policy and procedures
Managing your own discrete design tasks and providing input to multi-disciplinary design teams
Working with teams and clients to successfully navigate the design approval processes, including the discharge of associated conditions
Demonstrating and developing your technical skills and providing assistance and advice
Controlling your own programme of tasks and budgets
Presenting technical advice to team leaders, project managers and clients as appropriate.
Assisting senior staff on major schemes and with business development
Proactively liaising with and reporting to your line manager and/or project manager/director
For the this role you will be chartered(ideally), or be progressing towards chartered engineer status or incorporated engineer status with ICE or CIHT. You must have demonstrable design experience in highways and/or light rail. Additionally you will also have technical skills in one or more areas of technical capability such as alignment, drainage, pavement, signs and road markings.

You will also need:
Commercial awareness, with experience of financial reporting connected to your work
Able to work to a client brief or project manager's instruction to produce a sound engineering proposal.
Knowledge of highway design standards (DMRB) and specification (MCHW).
Experience of working for one of the following: Highways Agency, local authorities or passenger transport executives
Full awareness of H&S legislation and how it is applied to the design process
You need to be prepared to work overseas should the opportunity arise
