Job Description

Job Purpose

The role of the Director of Pricing is to work with partner organisations to develop and lead the operation of a world-class system for the payment of financial services that helps drive improved quality and efficiency, in the interests of tax payers.



Context

The new Director of Pricing will be expected to take over the leadership of the team for the 2015 pricing cycle, to review progress to date, and to set out proposals on how to build on a good start and further develop the Pricing function, from good to great.

The Director of Pricing role requires a broad range of strategic, managerial and technical skills.

Our company will make sure that significant support is available to the Director of Pricing to transition into the new role in a managed way, with appropriate technical and other advice during the transition year of 2015.



Main Accountabilities

Work with the officials to design and negotiate long-term payment system reform (including leading overall programme design, and ensuring good results from individual research projects)

Ensure operational delivery of prices each year, starting with the 2016/17 prices

Lead the design and development of the pricing team, including effective team decision making processes

Lead the design and development of pricing infrastructure to promote a step change in the quality and use of data by decision makers, with particular focus on improving the collection, analysis and use of cost and price data

Engage effectively with stakeholders to improve and build support for the development and operation of the payment system

Develop and lead the approach to enforcement including: providing feedback to the sector, improving transparency, adherence to rules, and local modification agreements and applications

Contribute to company's wider strategy and organisational development

The individual will be expected to demonstrate Monitor's competencies in line with the role level and be a role model for company's values


Person Specification-Essential

Experience in a senior leadership role

Experience in leading strategic problem solving requiring strong intellectual and analytical skills

Excellent people management skills, including proven ability to build successful teams and inspire and motivate staff

Strong interpersonal skills to build agreement with and gain support from diverse stakeholder groups

An articulate communicator, both orally and in writing, with the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical colleagues

A passion and vision for the development of a world class health care pricing function
Desirable

Experience in an analytically demanding area such as economics, regulation, pricing, costing, financial systems reforms

Experience in developing systems and processes to support the delivery of analytically complex work
