Job Description

Client is an International Retailer with a truly global footprint. Asia is a key market and as such has received significant investment from the shareholders to drive a change and transformation programme, all designed around delivering double digit growth. The role of the Director-Finance is key in the success of delivering this plan. With a strong Financial Control and process background the ideal candidate will also have a demonstrable track record of business partnering and delivering change in a fast paced environment.


Business Performance and Commercial Support

Provide commercially valuable business support

Be seen by the Managing Director and peer group as a source of expert financial and business advice and an integral part of the success of the business
Develop retail development strategies and evaluate new retail opportunities
Evaluate and launch new business initiatives, (e.g. customer incentive promotions)
Monitor and evaluate marketing and promotional activity
Provide support and advice on financial and commercial matters to the Managing Director
Review management information for the business and make proposals for value-added initiatives
Provide financial and commercial skills to support business development initiatives, major pricing decisions and other commercial decision-making
Be an active member of working parties and project teams where the opportunity arises
Identify areas of the organisation that are underutilised/ underperforming and recommend actions e.g. space utilisation/outlet performance

Lead the planning and forecasting process and ensure that financial plans are consistent with the organisation's strategic objectives

Pro-actively support the Managing Director in strategic planning, focussing on value opportunities
Take a pro-active role in the development/revision/implementation/delivery and measurement of the organisation's business plan
Ensure a regular cycle of forecasting takes place within the organisation
Ensure that the content and detail are appropriate to the needs of the operation
Drive this process and challenge the forecasting of other departments
Be proactive in the identification and interpretation of business and economic trends which may affect the organisation's performance or the general marketplace


Manage stakeholder relationships

Be the key business Finance representative for relationships with 3rd party owners, providing all reporting and financial obligations on a timely basis
Manage relationships with organisation's commercial banking partners
Own the relationship with external auditors for the completion of the organisation's annual audit

Team Development

Recruit and retain the a high calibre finance team of 9
Actively plan for succession to develop and replace individuals effectively
Establish and maintain good employee relations within the Finance function
Aim to maximise efficiency in the Finance function
Provide training to enhance financial awareness of the management team as a whole

Financial Management and Control

Ensure strong Financial Management within a robust control environment
Have ultimate responsibility for accurate accounting records and provide financial reports for the organisation
Regularly review the Balance Sheet, ensuring reconciliations are performed of all business-controlled accounts and that all balances are explained
Continually review and develop best practice Financial Accounting and Control procedures to maximise impact and efficiency





Provide focussed, innovative and value-adding Management Reporting and Analysis

Deliver high quality management information and performance measurement that is accurate and relevant
Reporting should be thought provoking and action oriented
Ensure reporting that incorporates benchmarking, identification and measurement of key performance indicators and use of balanced scorecard
Utilise exceptional analytical skills to focus management reporting and develop commercial action plans for Managing Director and business management team
Ensure reporting is timely, accurate and consistent with the financial accounts and that P&L/Balance sheets reconcile to the trial balance
