Job Description

Function / Department: Underwriting

General Accountability: To create & maintain a sustainable portfolio in line with underwriting policy of the company & to be the custodian of the underwriting guidelines & set standards.

Nature & Scope of position:

Ensuring underwriting technical standards by Prudent Risk selection
Ensuring correct and timely issuance of quotes with the right clauses and conditions
Adequate Pricing of products & risks
Monitoring & Management of Portfolio
Collaborate with Claims Department particularly for major claims
To be constantly updating with IRDA/ GI Council guidelines.
Imparting knowledge to sales team to aid customer satisfaction
Training support to Sales/ Marketing/ Agents. Meeting with broker / client / large agents along with marketing providing technical support to get & retain business.

Dimensions: Ensure underwriting Profit & bottom line target;

Direct Reportee:- Trainee/Executive/Sr Executive/ Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager; Indirect Reportees:- Executive/Sr. Executives/ Assistant Manager/ Deputy Manager (Operations)

Specific Accountability: Branch Audit, adherence to UW authority in terms of discounts/ SI/ Products (category A-E), profitability analysis, MIS maintenance, preparation of dash boards

Key relationship/ customers: Internal Customers:- Sales Team, Ops Team, Claims Team; External Customers:- Brokers, Corporates.

Candidate Profile

Education-

UG: Any Graduate - Any Specialization, B.Tech/B.E. - Any Specialization

PG:Any Postgraduate - Any Specialization, Post Graduation Not Required

Doctorate:Doctorate Not Required

Graduate/ Post Graduate
Minimum 8+ years of experience in Non Motor Underwriting or property / Commercial Underwriting is preferred.
Must have handled similar line of business
Insurance qualification is preferred (IRDA Certification)
Experience in handling & thorough understanding of particular class of business with proven track record
Highly result oriented with problem solving abilities
Ability to handle cross functional teams
Open to taking up new initiatives & responsibilities
