Graduate or Diploma in Engineering, IT, Electrical / Mechanical Engineering , Computer Science
Minimum relevant experience of 3 to 4 years Data Centre Operations & Maintenance
Perform 24x7 shifts for data centres.
Handle incidents & ensure safety requirements are met.
Monitor environmental, power, & server hardware.
Handle cabling tasks for copper & fibre.
Control access into the data centres, ensure work permits are issued & material gate passes.
Install equipment in racks, manage capacity planning & document changes.
Physical Set-up of all devices.
Responsible for racking all servers & devices throughout the Data Centre, including running all cable, power & KVM & removing all the above when a server is decommissioned.
Responsible for all Win Tel /Linux servers break/fix throughout the Data Centre
when hardware failures occur by helping them troubleshoot issues & sending the appropriate hardware in coordination with the Vendor.
Basic operating system installations & server configurations.
Proactive Monitoring & recording of facility security, HVAC, Fire Detection&
Suppression Systems, Temperature, Humidity & critical power systems.
Ensuring that the Data Centre is secure at all times.
Data Centre Technician will ensure all visitors are signed in & escorted at all times while in the Data Centres.
Perform other various misc. operational duties as per the SOP approved by the data centre manager
Copper (UTP/STP) & Fibre cabling as per the TIA standards (like TIA 942)
Preparing the end of shift reports for the data centre
Willing to work a flexible shift including nights& weekends, & participate in an on call rotation.
Data Centre Operations, HVAC, Cabling, Electrical, Server Hardware, Monitoring.
Should be able to co-ordinate the day to day activities & preventive maintenance with the facility team & IT staff as per the instructions of the data centre manager
Should have good experience with communications circuits & Ethernet cabling (Structured copper cabling & fibre optic cables)
Intermediate knowledge of Windows 2003/2008 , Unix/Linux configuration &
Proficient in MS Office 2003/2007
Basic knowledge of Electrical & Mechanical Components like Online Double
Conversion UPS, Medium voltage circuits &chilled water cooled HVAC systems.
A+ certification is desired
APC infrastructure experience is desired but not required
