Overall Job Purpose :
Member of the newly created Credit Analysis Group. Responsible for performing credit analysis and preparing periodic written reviews for approval by senior credit officers, as well as managing the on-going monitoring and maintenance of exposures for a portfolio of corporate client groups across the EME, US and APAC regions.
Key Accountabilities :
Core responsibilities :
-> Undertake fundamental credit analysis on an existing portfolio of corporate credit counterparties
-> Prepare annual credit reviews for submission to senior Risk Officers and Credit Committee
-> Ensure all relevant Credit Risk policies, standards and procedures are followed
-> Ensure utilization of sanctioned limits are within sanctioned terms
-> Ensuring appropriate credit grading (Probability of Default and Loss Given Default) of the sanctions are submitted as a part of the approvals process
-> Perform credit analysis on interim requests for credit facility amendments, and prepare analysis in support of interim headroom requests, for presentation to senior Risk officers for approval
-> Ensure all day to day credit risk management activities are performed in a timely manner
Additional responsibilities may include;
-> Liaising and communicating with other departments to ensure documentation requirements are met
-> Undertake quarterly reviews on more complex and higher risk groups, including reporting on corporate credit counterparties which have been determined to merit more frequent credit review
-> Ensure transaction approvals are recorded within the Banks systems
-> Allocation of limits within pre-agreed parameters
-> Maintain data integrity of relevant Credit Risk systems (and perform monthly credit grade attestation
-> On-going monitoring of portfolio of industries for material developments affecting credit quality and the initiation of appropriate action. This will be based on:
o Financial risk analysis (balance sheet, P&L and cash flow) of clients including supporting the annual review process
o Analysing the overall performance of clients relative to company budgets and the Banks internal expectations/forecasts.
o Assessment of management, strategy and business risk.
o Analysis/monitoring of the credit risk taken by the Bank Group to customers/industries across a wide range of investment and commercial banking products.
o Financial modelling or stress testing in support of requests/transactions.
o Industry sector/client specific research.
-> Assist and support onshore teams in the preparation of periodic portfolio reviews (typically performed annually).
-> Assist and support on-shore teams in responding to information requests from our banking system regulators
-> Investigation and resolution of limit excesses and supporting stress test monitoring
-> Actively engage and help other team members in achieving their objectives to enhance performance of the wider team
-> Build strong working relationships and proactively manage internal clients/stakeholders across all credit teams onshore
-> Think and act beyond their immediate responsibilities
-> Perceive the job holder as a role model for other credit analysts
-> Understanding of products and client offerings for Investment -> -> Banking (preferred Corporate Banking)
-> 2-19 years of credit analysis and reviews in another financial institution
-> Knowledge of several industries and experience of EME, US and APAC economy cycles
-> Honours degree standard or relevant professional qualification.
Good commercial experience working within Credit, preferably in an international banking environment.
Knowledge and expertise
-> Educated to Degree standard
-> Proven track record in technical credit skills, including working knowledge of accounting (IFRS and US GAAP preferred)
-> Knowledge of several Sectors / industries
-> Awareness of legislation affecting the Bank and customers (including Data Protection Act,Companies Act, Insolvency Act, Financial Services Act) and have the highest regard for confidentiality
-> Product Knowledge across Investment Banking (preferred Corporate Banking)
-> Corporate Credit Analysis
-> Analytical and numerate in support of Corporate Credit Analysis, including appreciation of:
o General accounting principles
o Cash flow and balance sheet analysis and interpretation
o Financial models and modelling techniques
o Risk measurement and hedge management techniques
