The Automation Technical Consultant is responsible for
delivering and supporting large-scale system, application, service and business activity automation solutions. This individual utilizes the HP Operations Orchestration and HP Server Automation tools and performs basic programming and script writing to develop installation packages and flows for automating software installation, patching, administrative and business functions as needed.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs, administers, implements and supports Enterprise Automation systems as a member of a multi-discipline team.
Manages requests for automation services from the organization including new implementations, enhancements to existing solutions, customized solutions and reporting full compliance with HP Quality Management System requirements
Reviews system requirements and application dependencies to determine automation configuration needed
Assists in triage and incident management with collection and analysis of system data and performance metrics as-required to diagnoses system problems and in collaboration with other technology professionals to determine root cause in a timely manner
Engages with all stakeholders on process integration with the monitoring solutions
Follows appropriate incident, problem and change management processes related to technology infrastructure and being supported
Collaborates with project managers, architects and all levels of management to execute on strategic and tactical goals
Contributes to the research and assessment of industry standards in the areas of process automation, application performance management, business service management, infrastructure monitoring and predictive analytics
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with current versions of HP Operations Orchestration and HP Server Automation.
3+years of Windows / UNIX / Linux administration experience (including Solaris and RedHat Linux) in an enterprise environment demonstrating strong technical abilities with administration of the OS including command-line and unix scripting experience.
Exhibit a high level end-to-end understanding of server automation system architecture/design for large computing environments.
Experience with ticketing systems (HP Service Manager, HP Service Center, Remedy, ServiceNow)
Knowledge of ITIL v3, with practical knowledge of configuration, capacity, service level, incident and event management processes, among others.
Knowledge of Enterprise Monitoring metrics and best practices.
Experience with Enterprise logging tools and best practices.
Experience with one or more of the following, Windows Powershell scripting, SQL scripting, Linux shell scripting, Java, Java Script, C++, Visual Basic, .Net languages, Perl
Excellent analysis and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Adaptability; able to adapt to changing business requirements and react quickly.
Self-motivated individual, able to work independently yet in coordination with a team
Strong oral and written English language skills required.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
MSCE, and other technical Certifications preferred
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, management information systems
