Job Description

Purpose of position:
To deliver, maintain, manage and support the UNIX Infrastructure environments including the management of day to day operations and support of these environments. The position's key focus is AIX Administration and maintenance of the systems as well as implementing upgrades, configuration remediation, and system enhancements and ensuring availability and scalability.
Experience & Qualifications
Relevant Tertiary IT qualification
Senior minimum 8 to 10 years relevant experience
Unix & Infrastructure experience with AIX/Linux & Storage skills
Ideal Candidate will have experience on the following:
AIX Administration
Monitor systems performance
Ensure availability and performance of the UNIX infrastructure systems
Maintain and service components for UNIX servers and Storage
Compile weekly performance and capacity management reports
Implementation of Infrastructure changes to business servers
Design and Implement changes to existing technologies
Incident, Problem, Change, Patch Management
Backup and Recovery
Unix Scripting
The Incumbent will be responsible for
Operations
Deliver and maintain required documentation.
Ensure implementation of non-functional requirements on agreed technical and architectural standards.
Define, document, communicate and enforce required standards, guidelines and best practices.
Perform trend analysis and forecasts.
Compile and deliver required reporting.
Problem solving and in-depth root cause analysis.
Analyse system performance, make and implement recommendations regarding systems improvements and system tuning.
Design and deliver on continuity requirements.
Ensures optimum utilisation and configuration of installed infrastructure.
Planning, scoping and delivery of projects.
Service Excellence
Proactively manage the environment to honour required service levels.
