As a Windows Infrastructure Administrator, this person is responsible for the daily administration of Windows based servers in a business application environment. This includes general system administration tasks, software and hardware support, system configuration, system monitoring, performance tuning and troubleshooting. This person must have an application support background, with excellent customer relation skills and some project management skills. Candidate
should be able to work with business application administrators, helping troubleshoot their applications and guide them with best practices. Candidate must be able to express thoughts clearly and capable of working in a team or as a sole contributor.
Individual should be self-motivated with very good communication skills.
Key Job Responsibilities:
System Administration - This person would be responsible for the day-to-day administration of all Windows based servers & Citrix. This includes monitoring the trouble ticket queue, system trouble-shooting, hardware and software system changes, system performance monitoring, system sizing, system integration, upgrade implementation, and hardware diagnostics. Application support - This person would work with application administrators to help trouble-shoot and fine-tune applications
and also if required guide application administrators in best practices related to using the underlying Windows and CItrix infrastructure. Performance Tuning - Person will be involved
with performance tuning the systems to achieve optimal performance for computational intensive applications Design & Architecture - Suggest and improve systems design and architecture for both systems and applications. Communication
- There will also be some project management skills required.
Documentation -- Maintain all system documentation. Technologies - Knowledge of Veritas VCS Microsoft Cluster, PowerShell, SOX, and system security a plus. Some travel may be required.
Key Skills required:
Overall 7-12 years of IT experience. Strong technical skills and domain expert in following products/technologies:
Subject matter Expert level skills in Windows Server administration (Win2k8/Win2k12).
Good skills in VERITAS /Microsoft Cluster, Volume Manager in windows
Expert level skills in PowerShell scripting.
Proven ability to perform Windows 2003/2008/2012 server builds.
Must have good understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems including Windows 2008 and Windows 2012
Hands on experience on Citrix
Knowledge of system imaging, basic TCP/IP functionality, and networking a must
Knowledge of Dell and HP hardware is essential
Scripting in VBScript, Perl is a plus
Must be self motivated
Must have strong communication skills and ability to work individually, within a team, and with other groups at all technical levels
Knowledge of ticketing systems a plus
Knowledge of Remote administration systems (RDP, Funk Proxy) a plus
Maintain all hardware systems supported and administered by the Server organization
Responsible for imaging and handing off servers as required by the Server organization
Responsible for maintaining all tools and documentation necessary for remotely administering all Server team supported systems.
Develop and maintain virtualized hardware environment and develop solutions that are datacenter and power conscious.
Provide a forward looking view into the Windows environment, providing evolutionary plans between current and future Microsoft operating systems and hardware platforms.
