Job Description

Within the context of the firms requirement and as relates to the firm
needs, the technical manager will be responsible for overseeing all IT and technically related functions from product development, business development through to product deployment and maintenance of the firms products.

The technical manger reports to the CEO and is responsible for establishing the firms technical vision and leading all aspects of the companys technology development.
Additionally, the technical manager will be required to work hand in hand with the firms technical partners to ensure smooth operation of technically related issues.

The technical manager will play an integral role in the firms strategic direction, development, and future growth.

The ideal candidate

At least 10 years practical work experience in the IT space. At least 5 years of the 10 years should be in a managerial role.

Telecommunications experience of at least 5 years.
Past experience developing and supporting integration requiring payment, USSD, SMS and IVR gateways.

Good knowledge of various telecommunications platforms, data center and Value added service in the telecommunications field.

Good knowledge of communications, computer operations, systems management, network administration and programming functions.


A Bachelors degree in computer engineering, computer science and other related fields. An advanced degree in any of these fields is a plus.

A recognized technical certification would be required.

Required skills, knowledge and characteristics

Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to interact with clients, senior management and staffs at all levels.
Experience with a startup organization is a plus.

Very good knowledge of USSD, payment gateway, SMS gateway and IVR.

Practical trouble shooting experience.

Architecture development and business analysis experience would be an added advantage.

Should be willing to work in teams and must be a very good team lead.

Roles and responsibilities

Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.

The technical will be required to play a major role in product development.

Identify potential technology providers and other collaborators that the Company can sign up or partner with to develop its products and implement them.

Act as main point of contact/interface with technical partners and client technical teams.

Responsible for building relationships and attending required business development related meetings as well as technical meetings.

Upon signing up of clients and other partnerships, oversee (specifically from a technical and analytical standpoint) the execution of activities required to take the projects to launch.

Ensure smooth operations of technology once launched.

Make recommendations for and execution of products enhancement.

Responsible for putting together technology related systems and processes and ensure adherence to them.

Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.

Maintains organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.

Oversee all phases of project from conception to completion.

Assist with setting up and upgrading information systems and security.

Manage team of consultants, programmers, developers, and analysts.

Manage multiple vendors.

Develop security standards, procedures, and guidelines for multiple platforms.

Works with the legal and compliance manager to ensure the companys intellectual property as well as technical and information assets are protected..
