Job Description


As a NOC Operator, you will be responsible for carrying out day-to-day hardware and software monitoring tasks that include notification of production outages or incidents affecting performance; following established Standard Operating Procedures to correct issues where appropriate; and help document and prepare SoPs for new incidents as they occur.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Proactive and responsive monitoring of enterprise infrastructure and services
Manage daily support queue and respond to incident management tickets per established SLAs
Provide an initial point of contact for all incident discovery, coordination and resolution
Open/ Acknowledge/ Maintain/ Update status on open incidents, tasks and change requests
Run diagnostic tests and implement backup processes using SOPs to perform first tier troubleshooting and alarm validation
Generate problem reports and track their resolution
Provide operational assistance to end-users with password unlocks and remote-access requests
Notify management of significant events
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager


BE / B Tech in Computer Science or any relevant Field
2-8 years of experience working in a UNIX (RedHat Linux) environment
Exhibit excellent teamwork with strong oral and written communication/documentation skills
Ability to multitask under pressure from time critical events
Ability to handle 24x7 shifts and the pros/cons/flexibility of NOC shift-type work
Working knowledge of a wide range of data center technologies including Local (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN), NAS/SAN storage technologies, Oracle technologies, firewalls, load balancers and network protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, etc.

Desire to troubleshoot & find root cause
Enthusiasm and interest in Networking and Open-Source technologies
Strong sense of professionalism, duty, and ethics

Other desired skills/abilities (considered as an added advantage):

Familiarity with two or more of the following domain focus areas: Enterprise Service Management (ESM), Service Desk, Call Center, Data Center Operations, Server Operations, and understanding of Disaster Recovery
Experience with automation scripting (Bash or Python)
Configuring and implementing monitoring tools like Solarwinds, Nagios, Zenoss, Splunk, etc.
ITIL V3 certified and knowledge of Incident Management processes
Basic Networking and server side certifications (CCNA/RHCSA)
