Job Description

The Underground Stations Manager manages the reference design for the underground stations on behalf of the Design Director. You are responsible for providing a clear brief to each station team leader and coordination between the teams to deliver the reference design for the underground stations in a cost effective manner. You will liaise with other discipline leads and identifies issues that require resolution by others. He/she is responsible for delivering a design in accordance with Plans prepared by others in the Team.

The Underground Stations Manager reports to the Design Director.

Key duties will include but are not limited to:

Managing Station Team Leaders and liaison with other Technical Discipline Leaders
Liaison and coordination with key stakeholders
Establishment of system architecture
Determine design criteria and constraints
Assessment of Project Requirements against the basis of the Concept Development Design Report and preparation of Change Reports as appropriate, including indicative indication of impact of change on project cost and time and risk.
Informing MV-Rail of changes to the Concept Development Design
Preparation of the Reference Design Report and Drawings tailored to suit the delivery model (PPP) / (D&C) / other
Preparation of Traceability Report to confirm that the Reference Design meets the Project Scope and Project Requirements

Candidate Specification
The successful applicant will have:

a engineering degree qualification
15 years' experience in the design of major multi-disciplinary projects of which 10 are in the design of underground metro systems with particular experience of metro stations in constrained urban environments.
5 years' experience acting as a team leader/design manager.
A proven track record of delivering on time and on budget and delivering cost savings during the design process.
Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to communicate/liaise effectively and professionally with all levels of staff, clients and contractors
time management skills, setting priorities, planning and organising
Proactively seeking to enhance personal and professional development
Self-motivated with a positive and friendly attitude
Lead, motivate and inspire team members
Be an active participant in demonstrating Mott MacDonald's Values and Behaviours
