Job Description:

As the successful candidate you will have day to day responsibility for the running of Mott MacDonald civil and rail projects. You will be working on a range of civil engineering rail projects, ranging from new stations, platform extension to multidisciplinary rail systems projects and civil engineering structures with opportunities for short or medium term assignments to our other offices in the UK or overseas.

Reporting to the project manager (PM) and or principal engineer, you will be responsible for:

Interpreting and delivering clients' briefs
Design and technical content of projects
Determining budget and programme work
Identifying resource requirements for the project and managing those resources within the project budget
Client liaison
Identification and management of risk
Identifying further opportunities with existing and new clients
Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes

Candidate Specification:

As the successful applicant you will have the following essential academic, professional qualifications and experience:

* BEng & MSc or MEng in civil engineering
* MICE, MIStructE or acceptable equivalent or nearly chartered status
* Experience of railway bridge and infrastructure design and assessment
* Experience of civil infrastructure design

Essential competencies/skills:

* Sound technical capability and familiarity with current industry standards and software applications.
* Ability to clearly communicate technical detail to a non-technical audience, e.g. during meetings with clients
* Ability to communicate requirements to staff above and below, e.g. to ensure staff understand what is required of them
* Ability and propensity to coach and mentor enthusiastic and inquisitive junior engineering staff
* Ability to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel to produce project related documents
* Ability to use software such as Robot, LUSAS, Staad, SAM, Tedds and AutoCAD/Revit to view and print drawings
* Ability to use Project-wise on multidisciplinary projects
* Demonstrate up-to-date working experience of Network Rail Group and Company standards
