We are looking for experienced Senior Project Managers to provide project management and controls services on behalf of our major rail and highways clients including Network Rail. Working within a local team, but operating within our UK wide business, you will typically report to a Project Director or Programme Manager and, depending on your experience, either lead or support the inception or delivery of each Project.
Our Senior Project Managers will be expected to work on secondment within an integrated client environment or in a Mott MacDonald team representing the client's interest. The role may also involve the management of internal project teams and the operation of the Mott MacDonald's Integrated Management System.
Working with clients, contractors and consultants, you will provide the leadership and management needed for successful delivery of the project from placing of contracts through to full operation.
This will require you to structure an effective project team and to manage the deployment of resource drawn on staff from a range of employers and clients (including our own organization).
Responsibilities will include:

Ensuring appropriate services are delivered through technical, engineering, project controls and commercial support functions
Safe, secure, timely and cost effective delivery of projects meeting business and environmental objectives.
Effective management flow of data to communicate; status, progress, uncertainty, risk and current/projected performance.
Development and welfare of team members
Effective communication across project delivery, client and stakeholder teams
Those joining us in more senior roles are also likely to have business and line management responsibilities in support of the company's goals including:
Key project and business communication
Achieving profitability our commissions
Delivery of commissions in line with customer objectives and contracted stage of work
Managing team development through the Performance Development Review (PDR) system
Acting as a coach or mentor to more junior staff
The successful candidates will have a background in construction or engineering and experience of managing and leading project teams to successful outcomes on projects for Network Rail, the Highways Agency and UK Transport Executives.
Previous experience of managing integrated multidisciplinary teams within client organizations including development, controls, delivery, commercial, procurement, contracts, engineering, safety and quality, integration, stakeholder management and communications.
A self- motivated individual, with the ability to build and maintain sound working relationships with a clients and stakeholders is essential, together with an ability to motivate teams and create an enjoyable and fulfilling work environment.
Able to prioritize and work under pressure and adopt a proactive and flexible approach to work.
Excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills are also required. Flexibility in work location and travel is also an advantage.
Other further post graduate qualifications or professional training is desired but not essential including Registered Project Practitioner, APMP, PRINCE2, MSP, P3M3 and LEAN.
