Job Description

Plant Head (Electrical Division)

Key Performance Area:

Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans at the plant so as to attain the productivity and cash profit targets

Organize and control all production operations within the plant to achieve all output targets in terms of quantity, quality, productivity, efficiencies and customer satisfaction

Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, energy and capital

Ensure 100% compliance to all statutory requirements

Provide leadership to all functions within the plant to ensure plant objectives are met


To develop and implement short- and long-term plans to ensure that the Plant has the necessary resources to meet business objectives and to participate in annual business planning and budgeting of the plant

To collaborate with both R&D and Business Development under the guidance of the Manufacturing Head in new product designs, coordinating customer requirements with manufacturing cost and feasibility


To develop all necessary policies and procedures to ensure that the Plant, equipment and the resources are effectively utilized to ensure maximum production efficiency and quality targets are achieved as per plan

To plan and ensure adherence to preventive and predictive maintenance schedule and obtain highest degree of customer satisfaction

Quality management:

To oversee quality testing of all incoming raw materials, in-process product and of finished product with regards to defined parameters and provide support in case of any discrepancies/ issues

To meet PPAP requirements of the customers and maintain APQP

To ensure adherence to quality standards like ISO 14001, TS 16040, etc.

Inventory Management:

To manage the inventory at the Plant effectively with the SCM Head and aim towards maximizing the inventory turns.

To reduce the inventory carrying cost by effective planning

To monitor availability of materials and spares in Stores and guide the Purchase Head to indent as per requirement

To interact with the local suppliers for material and equipments required, along with the Plant Purchase

Cost Savings:

To ensure reductions in scrap cost, in- process wastage cost, maintenance cost, Energy cost, etc

To work with the Plant Purchase team for ensuring most cost effective purchase of raw materials/ non BOM items

To regularly monitor the Plant MIS for tracking the cost

Plant Administration and Management:

To identify and prioritize tasks and activities involved in the day to day operations of the plant

To ensure effective coordination of the various departments in the Plant to ensure synergies that will positively impact the Plant

To ensure adherence to safety, environment and health standards of EMS/ OHSAS and regularly monitor the same

To conduct the Safety Week in the Plant in line with the Safety Policy of the organization

Process Excellence:

To lead the implementation of new systems and process improvement measures like KANBAN, Kaizens, Pokayoke, 5S etc. at the Plant

To lead the TPM implementation across the Plant and to review the parameters of PQCDSM regularly

To form CFTs in the Plant to address specific issues or to undertake improvement projects in the Plant to ensure cross- functional participation in process/product improvement

To ensure adherence to safety norms by all personnel in the department so as to achieve the zero accident goal

Employee Management:

To plan, implement and review periodically performance of function and individuals vis- a -vis plans.

To effectively plan for succession of the key positions in the Plant

To recruit and manage a talented and motivated team including line managers, supervisors and operators

To provide leadership and direction to all factory staff to ensure that they are properly motivated, trained and developed, and carry out their responsibilities to the required standards

To facilitate discussions with the Union and workmen as and when required. To set up committees/ teams to address any employee grievance

To take specific measures towards employee welfare

To ensure adherence to all statutory and legal requirements with respect to employees, working conditions and welfare.
