To initially work with the Asia Pacific Head of Trading to carry out an internal audit across all markets to establish what digital trading "preferred supplier" strategies and actual deals we have in place at a local level, which generate both client and agency benefits.
To then work with markets on a practical, local level to set up preferred supplier strategies and trading deals where needed. Anticipated priority markets are Greater China and India, followed by the South East Asia markets. Australia is largely "self sufficient".
To then work with markets in "selling" these strategies to both our agencies and clients and then setting up systems to monitor their effective implementation.
To assist with troubleshooting and negotiation support as and when is needed across the region to ensure the continued success and excellence of these strategies.
To implement (with other senior staff) other areas of WW digital trading strategy as this develops across our network (e.g. implementation of our planned Digital Trading Platform and Data Management Platform).
To also support the regional head of trading in developing new trading businesses like Xaxis, Quisma etc as needed.
To also support the agency heads of trading in managing the digital trading product for key current clients (e.g. KPI delivery), winning new digital trading business, troubleshooting vs client issues etc.
An active role in the training of staff through our regional trading training program.
Other miscellaneous related duties as required.
The successful candidate:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
A trading or "deal-making" personality, who enjoys the excitement of negotiations.
Proven record in driving client value.
A practical, "hands on" approach, where they are happy to go into markets and work with local teams (who may be junior and inexperienced) to help them deliver excellent local results.
A sensitivity and understanding and willingness to learn about Asian business culture and practices. Asia is typically a 'sellers market' and a sensitive, careful approach is needed to obtain the best results from our media vendor partners (as well as our clients and staff).
Energy and enthusiasm to relentlessly drive change across the business and help our staff embrace this new initiative and the change in behavior that is needed.
Comfort with the sometimes difficult challenge of balancing the client's best interests.
A collaborative and astute approach to build trust and respect across our total network - we are a multi-agency, multi-layer organization and its key that the successful candidate understands the need to establish relationships with and manage multiple stakeholders and parties both locally, regionally and globally.
A deep understanding of digital media planning and buying and familiarity with all aspects of digital media including display, Search, Social, Mobile, Video etc
10+ years experience in the digital arena ideally across multiple markets and/or in a regional role
A willingness to travel in the region and from time to time beyond the region for majority of the time. The person will spend more working days away than in their base country.
Fluency in Asian languages would be an advantage, but is not essential.
