We are looking for an engineer experienced in the design of buildings in the commercial, industrial, education and health sectors. You will have delivered projects from conception to construction both as a designer and project manager and have a sound understanding of programme and budget management.
The successful candidate will have day to day responsibility for the delivery of Mott MacDonald building structures, civil and rail projects.
you will be working on a variety of structural and civil engineering projects, ranging from schools and commercial buildings to bridges and rail civil engineering structures with opportunities for short or medium term assignments to our other offices in the UK or overseas.
Reporting to the project manager and or senior engineer, the candidate will be responsible for:
Representing Mott MacDonald with clients, architects, contractors and designers
Interpreting and delivering clients' briefs
Technical content of projects
Determining budget and programme of work
Identifying resource requirements for the project and managing those resources within the project budget
Business development and bid support
Assisting with the management and development of the team
Identification and management of risk
Identifying further opportunities with existing and new clients
Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes
The successful applicant should have the following essential academic, professional qualifications, skills, competencies and experience:
BEng & MSc or MEng in civil engineering
MICE, MIStructE or acceptable equivalent or close to achieving Chartered status
Experience in structural design and working in multidisciplinary teams
Experience of civil infrastructure and rail would be preferable
Passion for engineering.
Sound technical capability and familiarity with current industry standards and software applications.
Ability to clearly communicate technical detail to a non-technical audience.
Ability to communicate requirements to staff above and below, to ensure staff understand what is required of them.
Ability and propensity to coach and mentor enthusiastic and inquisitive junior engineering staff.
Detailed working knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work.
Ability to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel to produce project related documents.
Ability to use software such as Robot, LUSAS, Staad, SAM, Tedds and AutoCAD/Revit.
Experience of BIM is preferable, however not essential.
