About CRY

cry1Child Rights and You (CRY) is a non-profit organization in India that aims to restore children’s rights in India. We partner with grass-roots non-governmental organizations to uplift thousands of Indian children who are denied basic rights, working across levels from direct action to advocacy, mobilizing public opinion and policy change. Established in 1979, we focus on the 4 basic rights of survival, development, protection and participation which were defined by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), an international human rights treaty that has been ratified by 192 countries.

Child Rights and You (CRY) is an agent of change and with your involvement, we ensure the fundamental rights of underprivileged children in India are protected and honoured. Our mission is to ensure happy, healthy and creative childhoods.

Each member at CRY becomes a part of a team that mobilises millions of people across India and the world to seek political support for our future, through our children. Use your professional skills to restore to Indian children their basic right to a childhood.

The current buzz at CRY

The Election Advocacy Campaign (EAC) that has been running over more than 6 months, where we have prepared a charter of demands and are calling upon political parties to keep Indian children’s rights as a high priority in their manifesto. So far we have collected 1.4 million signatures across India where people have supported us by pledging to vote for Child Rights.
